It has been an exciting time at RSPB Minsmere nature reserve recently. The BBC’s television show Springwatch was broadcast from its brand-new home at Minsmere, following the fortunes of British wildlife through the season. The three-week long wildlife party started on Monday 26 May and stretched right through to Thursday 12 June 2014. This is a wonderful endorsement of everything the Natura People project has helped us achieve at Minsmere.
Our end report about how to engage visitors with the Natura 2000 story is now available online! It can be downloaded at end report visitor engagement techniques.
The Province of West Flanders and the Agency for Nature and Forest Management are happy to announce that the first stone ceremony for the new Zwin visitors centre will be held 27th of September 2014 in Knokke-Heist.
Last year we had to demolish the old Zwin visitor center in order to make place for the new visitor center. This meant the Stork colony breeding on the roof had to move. As a part of the Natura People project we were able to provide the Storks with new and permanent nesting poles. A big success: 2 days after placement the first nests were already been built and now several couples have been breeding!
